Guide/Getting Started

Getting Started

Configure an affiliate program, track referrals, and pay partners from the organization's Stripe account.

Growth tracks referrals for each organization and lets the organization pay approved commissions from its own Stripe balance.

Affiliation is the first growth module. The same organization, customer, and revenue foundation is meant to support email campaigns and recurring lifecycle routines as the product expands.

1. Connect Stripe

Open the organization workspace, go to Affiliation, then click Connect Stripe. The organization is sent through Stripe Connect OAuth and returns to Growth once the account is connected.

Payouts remain blocked until Stripe reports the organization account as ready.

The same page also shows whether partner Stripe accounts are ready. The organization account sends funds; each affiliate account receives funds.

2. Create The Program

In the Program tab, configure:

  • the commission event: signup or payment
  • the duration: once, one year, or lifetime
  • the threshold metric: referred revenue or referred customers
  • automatic or manual approval
  • one or more tiers

The first tier must start at 0. Percent tiers are stored in basis points, and fixed tiers are stored in the smallest currency unit.

3. Add Partners

Create each partner with a name, email, referral code, and target URL. The invite link is copied when the partner is created:

/invite/PARTNER_INVITE_TOKEN

The partner opens this page, sees the commission terms, and signs in. Accepting the invitation makes them a member of your organization with the partner role, and sends them to their own workspace:

/orgs/YOUR_ORG_SLUG/partner

That workspace holds their link, their referrals, their commissions and their payouts, and nothing else: the partner role is refused by every other organization function, so a partner never reaches your customers, your other partners, your campaigns or your settings. They sign in later and land straight back in it.

Public referral links use this format:

/r/PARTNER_CODE

To serve those links on your own domain instead, add it in Affiliation > Setup > Referral link domain and forward /r/* from your side. Growth verifies the domain with a probe request before any generated link moves onto it.

Partners must connect Stripe before they can receive payouts. Their referral code becomes active after they accept the invitation.

4. Send Events From The Target App

Use an organization API key from Settings > API Keys. Send click, signup, and payment events to the API endpoints listed in the API docs.

For payment events, send a Stripe invoice, charge, or payment intent ID from the connected organization account. Growth retrieves the payment from Stripe and uses Stripe's amount and currency for the commission ledger.

The target app should keep three identifiers stable:

  • visitorId - anonymous browser visitor, stored before signup
  • clickId - returned by /api/v1/affiliate/click
  • customerKey - internal user id or Stripe customer id, reused for signup, payment, and manual recovery

Read Affiliate Tracking Setup for a copy-paste installation flow.

5. Recover Missed Attribution

Open Affiliation > Customers to see signup events that arrived without a valid affiliate. Use Link to attach a customer to the correct partner when the user was genuinely referred but the app missed the click.

For payment-based programs, resend the original payment event after linking the customer. The Stripe object id keeps the event idempotent and avoids duplicate commissions.

6. Approve And Pay

When commissions are approved, click Pay on the partner row. Growth checks the organization's available Stripe balance, batches up to 100 approved commissions, and creates a Stripe transfer from the organization's connected Stripe account to the partner's connected account.
